Styling for Winter

Finally here in California is getting cooler and we are ready to transition from our summer/Fall clothes to winter clothes. Many just like me are more concerned about being warm then staying fashionable. However, it shouldn’t be that way and building fashionable outfits that still keep you warm are very easy to accomplish. The method that I am going to illustrate can be used to build any type of wardrobe, this method will include an extra item of clothing since we are layering to keep us warm during this cooler weather.
Keep in mind we have to be aware of our body type and keep everything balanced, which I will cover in a later article on our blog. For now we will focus on using what is in our closet and going from there.
After reading this I would like for you to go into your closet and select two basic items and build your wardrobe for a week. I like to take photos of the outfits I am building so I remember what I paired with what, so when it is time to go out I can easily pick out those items instead of spending hours thinking what would look good with what or even trying a million things on and at the end just throwing on a basic teejeans and a sweater.

The formula:
  • Two basic pieces – These pieces are going to the foundation in which you build your look. They will be versatile pieces that can be used over and over again in any season.
  • One Interest piece – This piece is going to be a piece that stands out either because of its color, texture or pattern.
  • One End piece – This piece is what is going to tie in the entire look. You can make this piece part of your interest piece by selecting a bold pattern.
  • Two Accessories – Belts, jewelry, scarfs, hand bags. Remember to keep it balance and do not over do it.

If you notice on the visuals below I have used the same jeans for all fours looks. This means you can create numerous of looks with one basic piece by changing the other key pieces that make out the outfit. How fun is that? This is great, because we can use our summer clothes or even last year winter clothes and make them look brand new and stylish by incorporating newer piece with our looks.
Now, it is time to go into your closet and start building your outfits. If you run into some roadblocks send me a message and I would be more than happy to help out. Happy building!
If you would like to see a video on how to build these looks, let me know.
I hope this was helpful and remember to subscribe to our newsletter and blog.

XOXO,
Iza
