Makeup Monday Tip: 4 Steps to Achieving a Flawless Foundation

Hi Beautiful!

Hope your weekend was great!

I am constantly getting complimented on my foundation and overall makeup. I know every
woman want to have a flawless foundation and have it last the whole day. I want to share my little secrets on how you can have flawless makeup too.

Step 1: Prep your skin

After washing your face with you favorite face wash. Moisturizer your skin based on your skin type (Oily, dry, normal or combination)

Use a under eye cream for your eyes not your moisturizer. Our under eye skin is much thinner than our overall face and needs a different kind of cream. Try looking for one that helps reduce/prevent fine wrinkles. The earlier you start taking care of your eyes the better.

Moisturizer your lips. Use a lip balm or  you can also use a scrub. (create a scrub with sugar and olive oil, use a toothbrush to lightly brush over your lips in a circular motion)

Apply a face primer - Helps reduce the appearance of fine line and pores thus creating a smooth surface and a barrier from your skin and the makeup which elongates the life of your foundation making it last all day.

Apply a eye primer -  Will prevent creasing in your eye shadow and make it last all day.

Step 2: Cover imperfections

Cover up your zits, scars, bruises and most importantly under eye circles.

Step 3: Foundation

Selecting your foundation color is key! Test a sample on your neck or jaw line to see if it matches, remember your neck and face needs to flow with the same tone of color. That is why it's important to have two foundations, one for the summer and the winter since we tend to change color.

Which type of foundation to choose?

Light coverage-  Liquid moisturizer, Liquid foundation

Medium coverage - Musse, liquid, cream to powder

Heavy coverage - Cream, 2 in 1 or airbrush (my favorite)

Step 4: Powder

When it comes to powder you a can choose  a- Light / Medium coverage-  Blot powder (compact form) or translucent powder. Or if you want a more coverage use a Matte powder.
You can use a brush or use a round flat powder sponge in a rolling effect to apply the powder, this effect will create a matte finish.

I use translucent powder, it doesn't cake and helps when you have a sparkly skin. =)

Once you have the solid foundation you can proceed to your eyes, cheeks and lips.

Hope these tips were helpful and try them the next time you are applying your makeup.

XOXO,
